Is the speaker moving around and the voice is too loud in one part and too quiet in another? Have you recorded multiple speakers with one microphone? Inconsistent dialogue or voiceover recordings can ruin a recording. They traditionally require manual gain changes, heavy use of compression, or both. ERA 5 Voice Leveler is the cure, automatically managing the level of a voice track to keep it at a consistent energy. Level out your voice to sound like your voice actor was standing in the same spot the entire time! Produce great-sounding interviews using the Voice Leveler and bring everything back to range automatically.
ERA 5 Voice Leveler’s intelligent detection algorithms can recognise and treat differently breath sounds in spoken audio, giving you yet another reason not to waste time with manual volume changes inside your video or audio editing software.
Let every word be heard, cause every word is important
ERA 5 Voice Leveler isn’t just a dab hand at getting consistent average levels – it can even clean up and increase professionalism by reducing the relative level of breaths.
Ensure multiple takes of dialogue reach the same target level – even when a speaker has moved their head around the microphone during a long recording.
Automatically reduce the level of breath sounds compared to the rest of the audio track from voiceover and dialogue audio.
Increase the punch and power of a single vocal by activating Tight mode on an otherwise well-made recording.

How to install and open the ERA 5 Voice Leveler
ERA 5 Voice Leveler can be bought and installed as part of the ERA 5 Standard and ERA 5 Pro plugin bundles. For comprehensive instructions on installation, check our Help Center guides on macOS and Windows installation.
ERA 5 Voice Leveler runs as a VST, Audio Unit or AAX plugin within a piece of host software: a DAW or an NLE such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Audition, Audacity, Apple Logic, Avid Pro Tools, Ableton Live and many others.
How to use the ERA 5 Voice Leveler
After inserting ERA 5 Voice Leveler onto a voice track in your DAW or NLE, use the large central Processing dial to increase or decrease the strength of the levelling effect. The amount you need to set will depend on the original source audio and the intended result.
The original, input audio level is shown in black, and the processed, output audio level is shown in yellow.
There are two modes of processing to choose from. Normal will be appropriate for most situations and has a more natural way of working than Tight, which seeks to make the signal, once processed, even more punchy and powerful.
Engaging the Emphasis control will tell ERA 5 Voice Leveler to analyze the signal’s tonal balance and apply processing for extra presence, if necessary. This feature will only apply processing if the signal will benefit from it.
By activating the Breath Control function, ERA 5 Voice Leveler can identify and keep intact breath sounds in voiceover and dialogue audio, sparing gain automation or clip slicing work.
For an even more polished, professional effect, use ERA 5 Voice Leveler after ERA 5 Noise Remover in the signal chain (or use both in a chain within ERA 5 Audio Cleanup Assistant). This will reduce the background noise before the leveling process starts, meaning there’ll be fewer audible jumps in the noise floor after.
